Symposium 5. Internationalizing the Undergraduate Psychology Curriculum:
Lessons Learned and New Opportunities

Symposium Abstract

During the past decade efforts to promote greater internationalization of undergraduate psychology courses have capitalized upon 1) strides in professional globalization and 2) the emergence of new online teaching and learning tools. This symposium will first provide historical reviews and critique of organizational and pedagogical efforts made during the end of the 20th century and in the early years of the 21st century. Opportunities for leveraging new pedagogical tools and methods to realize more authentic internationalization but with reference to course texts and course assignments will be presented. Perspectives from educators in Italy, France, Finland, England and the US will be shared and the audience will be engaged to share their current initiatives and aspirations. The discussion will focus on ways in which ICTP and other international psychology organizations can accelerate this ongoing evolution through networking and innovative initiatives.
